We were engaged to upgrade an existing theatre wing within a live clinical environment, requiring a high level of precision, communication, and scheduling to deliver a fully functional space. The project included the refurbishment of four theatres, four anaesthetic rooms, a patient transfer room, set-up rooms, a general scrub area, and the installation of critical infrastructure such as structural steel, switchboards, joinery, medical gases, and surgical equipment. The upgrade also involved new floor and wall coverings and improvements to the existing mechanical services.
Given the live clinical setting, strict infection control measures and hoarding plans were implemented, and some works were completed overnight to minimise disruption. Extensive coordination with our skilled subcontractors and detailed scheduling were critical in completing the project within a very short timeframe.
We followed stringent safety protocols to identify, handle, and safely remove hazardous materials within the site. Specialised subcontractors were engaged to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, protecting both staff and patients. This added layer of safety was managed seamlessly alongside the tight schedule and infection control measures.
The result is a state-of-the-art, functional theatre wing, completed on time and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

In 2025, United Project Solutions was honoured to receive the Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Construction Award for Best Fit-out Under $5M for the Austin Hospital – The Surgery Centre (TSC).
To be recognised among the Victoria’s leading builders was a significant achievement. To then go on and win at a national level made it truly exceptional.
Winning not only within Victoria, but across Australia, is a powerful endorsement of the quality, precision and collaboration that defined this project. The Austin Hospital TSC was delivered within a live hospital environment, transforming four operating theatres and associated critical spaces into a world-class surgical facility. The works included new switchboards, critical data infrastructure, upgraded patient transfer rooms, scrub and anaesthetic areas, all delivered under stringent infection control protocols and an immovable completion deadline.
This was a project where time, cost and quality were not competing priorities — they were aligned. Through early subcontractor engagement, detailed planning, proactive clash resolution and genuine collaboration with Austin Health and Linea Tecnica, the result was a zero-defect handover in an environment where there is no margin for error.
As Master Builders Victoria CEO Michaela Lihou noted, this project represents “technical excellence” and demonstrates how our industry enhances essential health facilities for the community.
We are immensely proud of the entire project team and grateful to Austin Health for their trust. Delivering award-winning projects is not about trophies — it is about partnership, performance and outcomes that genuinely matter.
