Kensington town hall

  • The Kensington Town Hall Acoustic Treatment Upgrade was an in-depth project for the City of Melbourne, focused on refining the sound quality and versatility of this iconic, early-20th-century structure. Kensington Town Hall, with its beautiful classical architecture, serves as a central venue for community meetings, performances, and gatherings, but its original design created challenges in sound management for modern uses.

United Project Solutions was engaged to improve this acoustic environment and make the hall more functional for a variety of events. The project involved the installation of specialised soundproofing and sound-absorbing panels, strategically placed on walls and ornate ceiling panels, to reduce echo and enhance audio clarity. To preserve the hall’s heritage design, the soundproofing measures were carefully selected to blend seamlessly with the building’s existing aesthetic, including the import and custom-fit of high-quality acoustic materials.

This intricate work required precision planning, respecting the hall’s historic features and ensuring safety at heights during the installation process. By harmonising acoustic functionality with heritage preservation, the project has enhanced the user experience for public and private events alike, making Kensington Town Hall a comfortable, versatile venue that embodies both historic charm and modern utility. The result is a beautifully upgraded space that honours its original character while meeting contemporary acoustic needs.
